RACI roles

Every data product knows who does the work, and who answers for it.

RACI gives every data product four roles from the day it is onboarded. FluenBox uses them to route tasks, approvals and updates, so nothing waits on someone who does not know it is theirs.

The concept

Four letters, one question each: who does it, who owns it, who is asked, who is told.

RACI is a responsibility matrix. For every task or decision it names who is Responsible, who is Accountable, who is Consulted and who is Informed. Applied to a data product, it removes the most common reason governance stalls: nobody is sure whose move it is.

R

Responsible

Data steward and technical team

Does the work. Completes the tasks of each maturity level and attaches the evidence, most of it arriving from connected tools.

A

Accountable

Data owner

Answers for the outcome. Approves the RACI, signs off the assessment and the go-live. One accountable owner per data product.

C

Consulted

Risk, compliance, security

Gives input before a decision. Reviews the controls that touch their area and answers questions inside the task, not in an email thread.

I

Informed

Consumers and audit

Kept up to date. Notified of changes, incidents and score movements, without having to ask for a status.

Customer 360, stage by stage: who is R, A, C and I.

The matrix is set at onboarding and approved by the data owner. From then on, each stage sends the work to the right person.

Illustrative matrix. Each organisation sets its own roles per domain.

How FluenBox uses RACI

The matrix is not a document. It routes the work.

Tasks go to Responsible

Each maturity level opens its checklist for the people doing the work.

Approvals go to Accountable

The data owner signs off the RACI, the assessment and the go-live.

Reviews go to Consulted

Controls in their area wait for their input before the decision.

Updates go to Informed

Changes, incidents and score movements reach them automatically.

Roles per domain

Each domain names its own people, so the same matrix works in every country and business unit.

Each role sees its own work

Nobody scrolls through a global backlog: every role sees only its tasks and approvals.

Recorded in the audit trail

Who approved what, and when, is logged with date and author, ready for internal or external audit.
